Blankitt HR vs BambooHR

BambooHR is a superb US-first HR suite — 30,000 companies can't be wrong. But for a UK employer its payroll and benefits are literally marked “US employees only”, and under 25 heads there's a $250/month floor. Here is the fair version of the choice.

Every BambooHR claim on this page was verified against their public pricing page on 5 July 2026. Products move — if something here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.

Where BambooHR is a great choice

We're not going to pretend otherwise — Bamboo has earned its 30,000 logos, and there are cases where it's simply the right answer.

  • Your company is US-anchored: their payroll, benefits administration and state-level compliance stack under one roof is genuinely excellent.
  • You want the established SMB choice — 30,000+ customers, a decade of product maturity and 150+ integrations.
  • Employee-experience depth matters: eNPS with AI analysis, wellbeing surveys, recognition and rewards are polished and battle-tested.
  • Compensation planning with integrated Mercer benchmarks (Elite tier) matters to your reward process.
  • You hire globally and like their Global Employment add-on (EOR powered by Remote).

If that list describes you — especially the first line — pick BambooHR with confidence. The cards below are where the UK case genuinely diverges.

Where Blankitt fits

Blankitt leans into everything a US-first suite structurally can't do for a UK employer.

UK-first, not US-first

BambooHR's payroll and benefits add-ons carry a “US employees only” asterisk on their own pricing page. For a UK company that means BambooHR plus a separate UK payroll product, two bills and a sync. Blankitt's UK payroll — RTI, auto-enrolment, statutory pay under the 2026 reformed rules — is the core product.

Small-team pricing that doesn't have a floor

Their pricing FAQ is explicit: 25 employees or fewer pays a flat rate starting at $250 USD a month. Our Starter tier prices a 10-person team at £55. If you're under ~25 heads, the comparison isn't really close — check both numbers yourself.

Rotas as product, not add-on

Shift scheduling, kiosks and overtime live in BambooHR's paid Time & Attendance add-on. Blankitt ships the rota builder, open-shift marketplace, swaps and offline clock-in on every tier — because shift-based teams are the design centre, not an upsell.

No caps on hiring

BambooHR caps open job postings by tier (5 on Core, 25 on Pro, 50 on Elite). Blankitt has no job caps and no recruiter seats on any tier — the ATS, scorecards, job boards and AI screening are simply included.

One ladder we refuse to build

Their tiers ladder features — performance on Pro, compensation on Elite, compliance courses 1/15/300+. Our tiers change headcount capacity and service level only; the feature set is identical on every paid tier. Procurement can compare like-for-like in one line.

GBP on the invoice

BambooHR lists prices in USD. Blankitt bills in pounds, so your HR line item doesn't move with the exchange rate — a small thing, until finance asks why HR costs 8% more this quarter.

Fair questions

Is BambooHR a good product?

Yes — genuinely. It's one of the most polished SMB HR suites in the world: 30,000+ customers, a mature performance and eNPS toolkit, Mercer-powered compensation benchmarking on Elite, 150+ integrations and a first-class US payroll and benefits stack. If your company is US-anchored, it's an excellent choice. This page is about the UK case, where the trade-offs look different.

Does BambooHR do UK payroll?

Their payroll add-on is marked “US employees only” on the BambooHR pricing page (July 2026), and the same applies to Benefits Administration. UK customers typically pair BambooHR with a separate UK payroll provider. Blankitt HR runs UK payroll natively — PAYE, NI, statutory pay, auto-enrolment and RTI submissions in the same product as the HR records.

How much does BambooHR cost for a small UK team?

Per their pricing page (July 2026): companies over 25 employees pay per-employee per-month — $10 Core, $17 Pro, $25 Elite, in USD, with volume discounts. Companies with 25 or fewer employees pay a monthly flat rate starting at $250 USD. Blankitt publishes GBP pricing with worked examples: a 10-person team on Starter is £55/month all-in.

Is Blankitt too early-stage for us?

Maybe — decide from evidence, not our copy. We're in early access: one 1,200-employee UK enterprise evaluation, a public changelog you can audit, and a live demo you can open right now. If you need a decade of case studies, BambooHR is the safer choice. If you want UK payroll, rotas and GBP pricing in one product, that's the trade we're offering.

We already use BambooHR — can we migrate or run alongside?

Yes. CSV import covers people data, and the public API, signed webhooks and SCIM (included on every tier) cover the rest. Some teams start with the rota and time & attendance running alongside an incumbent HRIS and move the rest later. Ask the founder and you'll get an honest answer about whether switching is worth it — including 'not yet' if that's the truth.

The demo settles it faster than this page can.

A fully-loaded 50-person UK company — rota, payroll, recruitment, performance — one email field away. Run your own numbers against the $250/month floor.
